Polk County supervisors have approved a zero-interest loan and a grant to help with an expansion project at the Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations plant in Des Moines.
KCCI-TV (http://bit.ly/qbKF5k ) says the board OK'd a $50,000 loan and a $50,000 grant to support the company's nearly $57 million project. The incentives are part of an economic development package expected to be approved by the state on Thursday.
The project will include purchasing and installing new equipment in the existing facility, which makes agricultural tires. The expansion is expected to create about 70 jobs.
Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations is a subsidiary of the Bridgestone Corp. of Japan.
