North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue is planning to be on hand for a jobs announcement at the world headquarters of a privately owned company that makes products for manufacturing companies.

Perdue has scheduled an announcement Tuesday at the headquarters of Lord Corp. in Cary. The governor's schedule doesn't name the company, and spokesmen for Perdue and the company did not return calls late Monday.

Perdue's schedule says she'll visit the address of Lord Corp., which was founded by Pennsylvania patent attorney Hugh Lord in 1924 and has been in the Raleigh suburb for 16 years.

Lord Corp. says its sales exceed $600 million a year for products that control vibration, motion and noise. The company has been moving into solar energy and wind power products.
