COPENHAGEN (Reuters) - Danish wind turbine maker Vestas has signed a major framework deal to supply French renewable energy group EDF Energies Nouvelles with turbines in 2012-2014, Vestas said on Thursday.

Vestas, the world's biggest wind turbine manufacturer, said it saw potential for the new agreement to bring it orders for up to 2,000 megawatts of turbines -- or more.

"EDF Energies Nouvelles will purchase a minimum of 50 percent of all its future onshore wind installations in Europe and a minimum of 30 percent of all its future onshore wind installations in the United States from Vestas for deliveries in 2012 to 2014," Vestas Wind Systems A/S said in a statement.
