Revlon has created the new position of global chief marketing officer and filled with it a consumer products industry veteran.

Julia Goldin has already begun as senior vice president and global chief marketing officer, the company said Friday.

The 41-year-old oversees all marketing activities for the beauty products company.

CEO Alan Ennis said Revlon wants to build its brands through marketing and Goldin will help lead the efforts.

Goldin started at Quaker Oats, and then spent 13 years with Coca-Cola Co., holding senior executive marketing positions in the U.S., Europe and Asia. She was most recently senior vice president and deputy chief marketing officer of Coca-Cola Japan.

Shares of Revlon Inc. rose 32 cents, or 2.9 percent, to $11.41 in midday trading Friday.
