A proposed wind farm off Rehoboth Beach could be operational two years later than expected.

Delmarva Power, a subsidiary of Pepco Holdings Inc., and NRG Bluewater Wind LLC are asking the Delaware Public Service Commission to extend the Dec. 1, 2014, deadline for Bluewater to begin operating the wind farm to Dec. 1, 2016.

NRG Bluewater Wind President Peter Mandelstam said in a statement that his company expects the wind farm to be completed before then, but filed the request to allow for possible delays in getting federal permits.

Delmarva Power President Gary Stockbridge says the company wants to give NRG Bluewater Wind all the time it needs to complete the project.
