Hima-Sella, a specialist safety-critical systems integrator, has announced that it will exhibit at the ONS energy event, organised by the Energy Industries Council (EIC), in Norway on 24-27 August.

TUV-certified functional safety specialist Ian Parry will offer a series of one-to-one sessions on the latest developments with regard to the international IEC 61508 standard.

The company, which will be found on Stand 13 in the UK pavilion, will also highlight how its team of safety and control system engineers can design and deliver integrated control and safety systems combining some or all of the following elements: process control systems; emergency shutdown (ESD); fire and gas; high-integrity pressure protection systems (HIPPSs); building management systems; Scada; PA/VA; CCTV security; telecommunications; and SoE monitoring.

Hima-Sella is upgrading critical safety systems as part of the Karsto Expansion Project 2010.

This involves the installation of a critical action panel (CAP) in the CCR; six new ESD systems in the Statpipe/Sleipner area; seven ESD/CAP interface systems in the Asgard area; five secondary HIPPSs on the Statpipe/Sleipner side; and a redundant OPC communications link between the ESD and the human-machine interface (HMI) for plant-wide status and alarms.

A detailed case study about this project will be available on the Hima-Sella stand.
