Officials are breaking ground in Florida on a plant that aims to turn vegetative waste into renewable power.

The groundbreaking ceremony at the Indian River BioEnergy Center is Wednesday in Vero Beach.

When the center is finished, officials say it will convert waste into millions of gallons of bioethanol and renewable power.

It comes after 20 years of research and development.
