Calgon Carbon Corp. said Friday it received a contract worth $19.8 million to supply water treatment systems for a group of 10 tankers.

The company said it received the contract from a South Korean shipyard. It will supply Hyde Guardian Ballast Water Treatment systems for Suez-Max crude oil tankers being built for a Greek ship owner. The systems will be delivered between 2011 and 2013.

The system is designed to disinfect ships' ballast water with filtration and ultraviolet light, keeping diseases from being spread from one port to another.

Calgon Carbon shares rose 13 cents to $12.62 in afternoon trading.
