German committee proposes reducing solar cuts

BERLIN (Reuters) - A German parliamentary mediation committee on Monday recommended slightly reducing proposed cuts to solar incentives over a three-month transition period in order to resolve a political impasse over the plans.

BERLIN (Reuters) - A German parliamentary mediation committee on Monday recommended slightly reducing proposed cuts to solar incentives over a three-month transition period in order to resolve a political impasse over the plans.

The originally proposed cuts included a 16 percent reduction in feed-in tariffs for new rooftop solar installations as well as a 15 percent cut in support for most open-field solar installations and had been due to take effect on July 1.

The Bundestag lower house has already passed the cuts but the plans stumbled in the Bundesrat upper house in June.
