DETROIT (AP) — A rolling classroom and training center for emergency responders is making stops this month in Detroit and Pontiac.

The chemical safety train is scheduled to be in Detroit on Thursday and Friday for training sessions and in Pontiac on June 24 and 25. Full-scale exercises are planned for Monday in Detroit and June 26 in Pontiac.

The training is led by national outreach effort TRANSCAER, which is short for Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response. The sessions are sponsored by Midland-based chemical giant Dow Chemical Co.

The program offers emergency personnel the chance to participate in simulated activities and classroom seminars focused on railroad equipment training, hazardous materials training and interactive emergency drills.
