Service Helps Operators Meet European Union-Emission Trading Scheme Reporting Requirements

PHOENIX, July 21, 2010 -- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today it is offering a new emissions monitoring service for business jets operating in the European airspace to comply with European Union-Emission Trading Scheme (EU-ETS) requirements.

Honeywell will compile and store carbon emissions data based on flight plans, number of passengers and freight information for business jet operators.  The service is part of Honeywell’s Flight Support Services, available through its Global Data Center (GDC) at www.mygdc.com.

“The new emissions monitoring service will help operators comply with regulations, save time, and help take some of the mystery out of this new reporting requirement in the EU,” said Carl Esposito, vice president, Marketing and Product Management, Honeywell Aerospace.  “Operators are struggling to understand how to report and are concerned about the time investment needed to comply.  That’s where we can help, the service is provided at no additional cost to Honeywell GDC subscribers.”

Under the EU-ETS requirements, operators flying within, to or from EU member countries and participating territories are required to provide authorities with carbon emissions information starting in January 2010. This is in an effort to benchmark flight activities in preparation for full program implementation in 2012.  The emissions data provided by business jet operators will give authorities a baseline measurement for the EU to allocate the proportionate emissions allocation in Tonne kilometers.

Services available through Honeywell’s GDC include Zing® health monitoring, pre-arranged fuel services, flight planning, data link and WINN graphical weather services. GDC provides these services for both business jets and commercial aviation operators.
