Southern Co, partners building 30-MW solar plant

HOUSTON (Reuters) - Solar-panel installation has begun at the 30-megawatt Cimarron Solar Facility in northern New Mexico, the project partners said on Wednesday.

Atlanta-based Southern Co and Turner Renewable Energy acquired the photovoltaic project in March from First Solar Inc for an undisclosed amount.

The Cimarron I Solar Project, adjacent to Ted Turner's Vermejo Park Ranch in northern New Mexico, was developed by First Solar which will provide engineering, procurement and construction services.
