JA Solar To Supply MEMC Electronic

Chinese solar power equipment maker said that it would provide high-performance solar modules to SunEdison owner MEMC Electronic Materials Inc.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Chinese solar power equipment maker JA Solar Holdings Co. Ltd. said Tuesday that it would provide high-performance solar modules to SunEdison owner MEMC Electronic Materials Inc.

The multiyear supply agreement will begin in the third quarter of 2010 and go through 2012.

JA Solar CEO Peng Fang said the agreement diversifies his Shanghai-based company's geographic presence and gives it access to MEMC's large project development pipeline.

JA Solar shares were down 4 cents at $5.31 in after-hours trading Tuesday after closing up 27 cents, or 5.3 percent, at $5.35. Shares in MEMC, which is based in St. Peters, Mo., were unchanged after hours after closing up a penny at $9.68.
