WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States continued on the path of producing more ethanol, the Energy Information Administration said on Wednesday in its first weekly production report on the alternative motor fuel.

U.S. distillers made 839,000 barrels per day of ethanol last week, the EIA said. There was no weekly numbers to compare that to, since it was the first report.

But industry group the Renewable Fuels Association said the number compared to average daily production in June last year of 694,000 bpd.
