PPG names 4 vice presidents to higher roles

PPG Industries Inc., which makes paint and industrial coatings, said Thursday it promoted four of its vice presidents to new roles effective Aug. 1.

J. Rich Alexander, currently the senior vice president of performance coatings, has been elected executive vice president. Alexander joined PPG in 1978.

Pierre-Marie De Leener, senior vice president of architectural coatings for Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific regions and president of PPG Europe, has also been named an executive vice president. De Leener joined PPG with the acquisition of SigmaKalon Group in January 2008.

Cynthia A. Niekamp and Viktor R. Sekmakas have both been named senior vice presidents. Niekamp, who joined PPG last year, is currently the vice president of automotive coatings. Sekmakas has been with PPG since 1997 and is currently the vice president of coatings and president of PPG Asia/Pacific.

Shares rose 8 cents to close at $64.60.
