Pratt & Whitney Loses Court Battle On Jobs Move

Appeals court?rejected jet engine maker's plan to move 1,000 jobs out of Connecticut, upholding ruling that said the company failed to make every effort to avoid the move.

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- A federal appeals court has rejected jet engine maker Pratt & Whitney's plan to move 1,000 jobs out of Connecticut.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York on Thursday upheld a federal judge's ruling that said the subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. failed to make every reasonable effort to avoid shutting two engine repair plants in the state.

In their decision, the judges said U.S. District Judge Janet Hall's injunction in February against the jobs move was supported by her findings that Pratt & Whitney breached its contract with the union.
