Mining Parts Maker To Create 200 Jobs

Major parts manufacturer for the mining industry said Tuesday that it will expand its Mansfield plant, La., creating more than 200 new jobs by 2017.

MANSFIELD, La. (AP) -- A major parts manufacturer for the mining industry said Tuesday that it will expand its Mansfield plant, creating more than 200 new jobs by 2017.

The plant was part of Hendrix Manufacturing, which was acquired by Queensland, Australia-based CQMS Razer in May. The new owner will expand and upgrade the plant, which currently employs 84, and add 232 workers over the coming years, company and state officials said.

"This gives CQMS Razer the ability to strengthen its competitiveness and grow in the North American marketplace," CQMS Razer General Manager Max Voigt said during a news conference.

CQMS Razer will provide new product lines for the plant to manufacture, said company chairman Chairman Kyle McDonald.

The state is working with CQMS Razer to develop its work force. The company also plans to use state industrial tax exemptions and the quality jobs program, which provides rebates for companies that create high-paying jobs.

"Retaining and growing businesses is a critical part of our work to create more opportunity for our people and build a better Louisiana for our children," said Gov. Bobby Jindal. "That's why the expansion by CQMS is a great win for DeSoto Parish, northwest Louisiana and our entire state."

In addition to its involvement in the mining industry, CQMS Razer manufactures products and services to the materials handling industries.
