HOUSTON (Reuters) - BP Plc's critical pressure test on its blown-out Gulf of Mexico oil well will continue another 24 hours, through Sunday afternoon, the top official overseeing the spill response said on Saturday.
"As we continue to see success in the temporary halt of oil from the leak, the U.S. government and BP have agreed to allow the well integrity test to continue another 24 hours," retired Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen said in a statement.
On Thursday, BP shut off the flow of all oil into the Gulf for the first time since April to conduct the test.
