EU carbon slides 1 percent on lower energy, German ban

LONDON (Reuters) - European carbon futures fell by over one percent on Wednesday, pushed lower by a weaker energy complex, Germany's ban on naked short-selling and ongoing concerns over the European debt crisis, traders said.

LONDON (Reuters) - European carbon futures fell by over one percent on Wednesday, pushed lower by a weaker energy complex, Germany's ban on naked short-selling and ongoing concerns over the European debt crisis, traders said.

EU Allowances for delivery in December traded down as low as 15.06 euros a tonne in the first hour of trade, a 23 cent or 1.5 percent drop.

The benchmark futures had recovered somewhat by 0700 GMT, trading at 15.10 euros. Volumes were light at 1,371 lots.
