The International Society of Automation (ISA) has announced that the 2010 Industrial Automation Safety and Security and Symposium will take place on 28-29 April in New Orleans.

The event, sponsored by the ISA Safety Division, will be held at the Astor Crowne Plaza in New Orleans, Louisiana, US.

This year's symposium will focus on threats - including cyber security threats - to industrial environments and the steps engineers must consider when designing and optimising industrial processes and safety instrumented systems (SIS).

ISA training courses include SIS and the ANSI/ISA-84 standard, and industrial automation security and the ANSI/ISA-99 standard.

Symposium presentations will provide practical guidance for designing industrial processes, selecting SIS, and protecting these systems against cyber threats and dangerous failures.

The day will include three tracks - Alarm Management, SIS, and Cyber Security - and will end with a safety and security panel discussion.

The event will provide an in-depth look at today's safety and security technologies and procedures.

It is intended to create a forum where paper presentations and panel discussions transfer information from the leaders and experts on safety and control to industry professionals.
