COPENHAGEN (AP) -- Union officials say the 1,100 Carlsberg employees on strike have returned to work to enable new negotiations with the brewer about wage increases.
Union spokesman Hans Andersen Tuesday said the employees "had to go back" if they wanted to have wage talks with Carlsberg.
Carlsberg's warehouse and production employees walked off May 6 to demand a 1.6 percent wage increase this year. They were joined Friday by drivers after management had asked non-striking staff to load beer crates onto trucks.
Carlsberg has said there would be no salary increase this year.
The striking employees represent more than half of Carlsberg's work force in Denmark, and the company has warned it is losing market share due to the transport disruptions.
