SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The U.S. Chemical Safety Board says it is sending a three-person team to investigate a fire at the Tesoro Corp. refinery in Salt Lake City.
The Wednesday night fire followed a power outage at the refinery earlier in the day. No injuries were reported but several trailers and equipment were damaged in the three-alarm blaze.
The Salt Lake City Fire Department has said a pool of crude oil caught fire and spread to a 200-yard radius.
Wednesday's fire was extinguished within an hour. Interstate 15 and FrontRunner commuter train service near the scene were briefly closed.
Tesoro says the refinery produces gasoline, diesel fuel and jet fuel.
