Nestle Raw Cookie Dough Back On Store Shelves

SOLON, Ohio (AP) - Nestle USA said Tuesday that it was sending new shipments of raw cookie dough to stores, the first since its recall linked to E. coli. Nestle Toll House cookie dough has been off shelves for nearly two months. The new cookie dough will have a blue "New Batch" label.

SOLON, Ohio (AP) — Nestle USA said Tuesday that it was sending new shipments of raw cookie dough to stores, the first since its recall linked to E. coli.

Nestle Toll House cookie dough has been off shelves for nearly two months. The new cookie dough will have a blue "New Batch" label. And packaging on the new blue boxes will include the warning, "Do not consume raw cookie dough."

Nestle said the Food and Drug Administration has finished its inspection of the company's Danville, Va. factory. The FDA said last month that the strain of E. coli found in a sample of raw cookie dough collected at a Nestle plant did not match the strain that has been linked to a 30-state outbreak.

E. coli is a potentially deadly germ that can cause bloody diarrhea, dehydration and, in the most severe cases, kidney failure.

Nestle USA is a unit of Switzerland-based Nestle SA.
