Upsurge In Automation

MISUMI USA has dramatically increased its stock at the company's Elk Grove Village, IL distribution center. As a result of substantial boosts in sales for certain sizes and shapes of many MISUMI mechanical and factory automation components, more than 1,800 items have been added to the local stock, effective immediately. This stock upsurge affects more than 1,550 catalog items with original standard delivery times of three days, which are now available in one day, while another 280 with six-day standard delivery times will now be available in one day-all without a rise in shipping charges. As always, the company doesn't require a minimum order, so this improved delivery schedule can impact the purchase of even one component. These reduced lead times will be reflected in the next print run of the MISUMI catalog, but will be noted online immediately for those customers who use the company's web ordering system. According to Misa Nishimura, MISUMI automation components business marketing director, "We have increased the capacity in our Elk Grove Village (Chicago) distribution center to meet the significant increase in demand with a larger variation of products that will ship in one day. Tracking the most popular sizes and shapes in our product sales mix, we made this decision, and we're certain our customers will welcome it." Nishimura further notes the company's intentions to add another 2,000 or more items to its local stock in the upcoming months, as North American sales continue to swell steadily. MISUMI carries more than half a million components in its catalog, and according to the company, pioneered the configurable component-one of its key success strategies in serving the machine builder and factory automation markets worldwide.
