Possible UK cuts threaten wind-turbine makers' plans

LONDON (Reuters) - Possible cuts to an offshore wind port fund by Britain's new coalition government may jeopardize hundreds of millions of pounds of UK manufacturing investment, turbine maker General Electric said on Friday.

LONDON (Reuters) - Possible cuts to an offshore wind port fund by Britain's new coalition government may jeopardize hundreds of millions of pounds of UK manufacturing investment, turbine maker General Electric said on Friday.

The UK Treasury has asked each department to review every spending approval and pilot project from January 1 under the last Labour government, which could include the 60 million pound ($86.21 million) competition fund for offshore wind port infrastructure.

The port fund was cited by offshore wind turbine makers as one of the major reasons behind investing millions of pounds in manufacturing in Britain.
