Dr. Eduard Muljadi, a researcher at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), has been elected fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE).

Recognizing the achievements of its members is an important part of the mission of IEEE.  Each year, after a rigorous evaluation procedure, the IEEE Fellow Committee recommends a select group of recipients for one of the institute’s most prestigious honors, elevation to IEEE Fellow.

Dr. Muljadi earned this honor because of his “contributions to wind turbine control and integration of wind power in the power system grid.” as cited by IEEE when announcing his selection.

“I congratulate Dr. Muljadi for this significant achievement,” said David Mooney, director of NREL’s Electricity, Resources and Building Systems Integration Center.  “Ed is well known and widely respected for his leadership in wind energy research and wind power integration.  NREL, DOE and the nation are fortunate to have such a talented and tireless researcher who has devoted his life to this important work.”

Muljadi received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin in 1987, and was on the faculty of California State University – Fresno before coming to NREL in 1992.

Muljadi holds two patents and has published more than 100 peer reviewed journal publications, conference publications, and reports in areas related to power conversion for renewable energy.

Muljadi is included in “Who’s Who of Science and Engineering”, and is a member of the Eta Kappa Nu and Sigma Xi Honor Societies.  He is an active participant in IEEE’s Industry Applications Society and Power Engineering Society.  Muljadi also is also a member of the Western Electricity Coordinating Council, the Midwest Reliability Organization and the Utility Wind Integration Group.

NREL is the U.S. Department of Energy's primary national laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency research and development. NREL is operated for DOE by the Alliance for Sustainable Energy, LLC.
