K-Tron International Inc., through its Jeffrey Specialty Equipment Corp. subsidiary, has acquired Rader Companies Inc. for $15.945 million. Rader, headquartered in Alpharetta, GA, manufactures pneumatic conveying systems, screening equipment, engineered storage and reclaim systems, and truck dumpers for processing bark and wood chips. "The acquisition of Rader significantly expands the scope of K-Trons activities in the pulp and paper and forest products industries, which we have been serving through our Jeffrey subsidiary located in Woodruff, SC," said K-Tron Chairman and CEO Edward B. Cloues II. The acquisition of Rader also provides K-Tron with a platform to participate in the biomass derived fuels market, a field Rader has been pursuing for two years.
