In Washington, Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska said that a climate and energy bill is unlikely to emerge from Congress this year. “It’s not clear that something will (happen this year),” Nelson told reporters.
“There are those who already pronounced the energy legislation, that has off-shore drilling associated with it, as being dead. We need to move forward on energy and find common ground whenever we possibly can. There is a common ground that can be achieved here (on energy), but there is very little common ground on climate change.” Nelson advocated separating the energy and climate bills.
