MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A court says Nestle USA, Inc. has not been paying too much in property taxes for its infant formula plant in Eau Claire.
The District 4 Court of Appeals on Thursday rejected Nestle's argument that the Department of Revenue miscalculated the value of its Gateway Plant.
The department valued the plant's worth at $10.9 million in 2003 and 2004.
The company appealed those assessments, saying they were too high because there is no market for used infant formula plants. Nestle argued the plant should be compared to other food processing plants, and was worth $3.6 million or less.
The court rejected that argument, saying the assessments were fair.
Glendale, Calif.-based Nestle USA built the plant in 2001 as a satellite facility to its main plant in Eau Claire.
