NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) — Policymakers and defense industry representatives are coming together in Rhode Island to discuss trends within the industry and technologies being developed for the military.

The Southeastern New England Defense Industry Alliance is hosting its fourth annual conference on defense innovation Monday through Wednesday in Newport.

More than 300 people registered. About 30 companies will exhibit their newest technologies.

Vice Adm. Michael Gilday, who leads the U.S. Fleet Cyber Command, is scheduled to speak Tuesday about innovation in cybersecurity.

Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo and members of the state's congressional delegation plan to address the group. U.S. Sen. Jack Reed is giving the opening remarks Monday afternoon.

Alliance Executive Director Molly Donohue Magee says the event provides a forum where policymakers and business leaders can engage and learn from one another.
