MONACA, Pa. (AP) — Township supervisors in western Pennsylvania are scheduled to vote Wednesday night on a conditional use permits for a proposed ethane cracker plant.

The Beaver County Times (https://bit.ly/2hm1V2o ) reports that Potter Township supervisors postponed a decision after a marathon hearing that began Tuesday afternoon and lasted until early Wednesday.

More than 100 people attended the hearing on the Shell Chemicals plant, which would convert ethane from Marcellus Shale natural gas liquids into chemicals used to make plastics, tires and even antifreeze

Shell's project manager and others testified for more than six hours on details of the plant and construction. The chamber of commerce president and others testified in support of the project, but a number of residents expressed opposition, citing concerns about possible odors from the plant and other effects.
