GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — A company that manufactures waterproof roofing membranes is expanding its plant in Gulfport.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1XyftYk ) Soprema is spending $1 million for additional warehouse space. Plant manager Kent Furcron says the company has outgrown its warehouse space for raw materials and finished product.

Furcron says the expansion will not mean any additional jobs. He says the company has 24 permanent employees in the automated plant, including machine operators, and support, warehousing and shipping personnel.

The Gulfport plant is one of more than 40 Soprema manufacturing plants worldwide.

The company's waterproof roofing membranes are manufactured for commercial buildings with low-slope or flat roofs.

Construction on the warehouse space started in November. Furcron expects the project to be finished in late spring.
