Honda's Chinese Joint Venture To Recall 460,000 Vehicles

Honda's local joint venture has notified authorities of a plan to recall a total of 459,962 CR-Vs and other models to fix their defective horns free of charge.

BEIJING (Kyodo) -- Honda Motor Co.'s local joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Corp. has notified Chinese authorities of a plan to recall a total of 459,962 units of the CR-V sport utility vehicle and other models to fix their defective horns free of charge.

The Chinese government's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said Wednesday drivers have found it impossible to beep the horn. Honda said the defect stemmed from problems in the horn's assembly process, adding it has received no report of any traffic accident resulting from the problem.
