GACL bags another National Award for Excellence in Cost Management
-- Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) received the first National Award for Excellence in Cost Management 2010 at the 8th ICWAI National Awards for excellence in Cost Management in the Medium sized Public Manufacturing Organization category. Union Minister of Corporate Affairs, Dr. M. Virappa Moily handed over the honours to the then MD of GACL Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra, IAS and Dr Hasmukh Patel, Chief Finance Officer at New Delhi. This is the third Award from ICWAI to GACL.
National Award for Excellence in Cost Management aims to promote the culture of cost Management practices on wider scale in Indian Corporate sector. This award highlights GACL's strength and professional expertise in applying cost management principles in every day business situations. Through green technologies, GACL has continuously ensured reduction in power consumption and in power cost per unit of production. It has also maintained highest capacity utilization of the plants. Adoption of other energy conservation measures, ERP and decision support system for business processes have further reinforced the cost management initiatives at GACL.
