GE Ultrasound is ‘Best in KLAS’

MILWAUKEE, WI, July 20, 2011 - According to the 2011 Top 20 Best in KLAS Awards: Medical Equipment & Infrastructure report, GE Healthcare’s LOGIQ E9 has been recognized as the top general imaging ultrasound system in the market. In the same report, GE’s Vivid E9 was awarded a share of the top spot for cardiovascular ultrasound systems.

“Best in KLAS recognition—which indicates leadership in working with customers to resolve issues and match needs to delivered solutions—is awarded to healthcare vendors who have consistently excelled in their market segment(s),” said Adam Gale, president of KLAS. “We are pleased that the healthcare industry recognizes the value of the ‘Best in KLAS’ award. The awards in this report help put the aggregate perceptions and opinions of healthcare executives and clinicians into perspective—especially as their peers consider major investment decisions.”

KLAS is a research firm specializing in monitoring and reporting on the performance of healthcare vendors. Annual rankings of the best-performing medical equipment vendors are based on evaluations submitted by thousands of healthcare providers throughout the United States and Canada over the past 12 months. KLAS rankings measure a vendor’s performance in areas like product quality, implementation, and service and support and a ‘Best in KLAS’ distinction signifies their leadership in meeting customer expectations.

Overall, LOGIQ E9 customers recognized their experience with GE and the general imaging product as exceptionally positive. In fact, 100 percent of LOGIQ E9 customers polled said they would purchase the product again.

According to a LOGIQ E9 customer surveyed by KLAS,[1]GE definitely hit the mark with this one. We started on the right foot with the implementation… [They] helped us get everything set up correctly before they left. The image quality is above and beyond what I have seen before, and the unit is just very user friendly. The knobs are very intuitive. We just instinctively know where the controls are for certain functions because the machines are designed so well.”

“It is rare to see a product have the clinical impact that we have seen with the LOGIQ E9,” said Brian McEathron, general manager of General Imaging for GE Healthcare’s ultrasound business. “A number of years ago, the GE engineering team set out to design a fundamentally new platform that delivered excellent imaging, easy workflow and expert tools. Now two years after its launch we are delighted to have gained this recognition from clinicians both in the USA and abroad.”

"The E9 products from GE Healthcare continue to be a tremendous asset for medical providers in the general imaging and cardiovascular settings," said Harvey Klein, Ph.D., President of Klein Biomedical Consultants. "The LOGIQ E9 specifically has had one of the fastest uptakes in the US of any product that I've seen in the industry in many years."

As for the Vivid E9, GE cardiovascular ultrasound customers have told the company they recognize it’s easy of use, robust clinical capabilities and the reliability and quality of the GE service team as part of the reasons for their favorable impressions of the system. One hundred percent of Vivid E9 customers outlined that the product has needed functionality and According to the “Echo 2011: A Tight Race at the Top” report from KLAS, an outstanding 95 percent of them claimed they would purchase the product again if they had to.

According to a Vivid E9 customer cited in the KLAS report interviewed by KLAS[2], “The Vivid E9 is a solid system with very little downtime. The technology is excellent and offers exactly what we need. The ergonomics are great, and the image quality is outstanding. We are very happy with our GE ultrasound.”

“The Vivid E9 has made a tremendous contribution to the field of echocardiography with its quantitative features and 4D imaging capabilities,” said Al Lojewski, general manager of GE Healthcare’s cardiovascular ultrasound business. “It is great to see the global recognition for our product and the impact it is having on our customer’s patient care.”
