'Blue Angels' Mustang helps Ford salute 100 years of U.S. Navy aviation

Ford engineering and design teams have produced a truly unique "Blue Angels" edition 2012 Mustang GT. This one-of-a-kind car will be sold at the Gathering of Eagles charity auction July 28, during EAA 2011 AirVenture Oshkosh. The custom rear spoiler's vertical tailfins, the "screaming yellow" gloss accents, and inclusion of the Blue Angels script and crest all are drawn from Navy aircraft. The unique chrome blue paint is courtesy of Creations n' Chrome. All proceeds from the donation and sale will benefit EAA Young Eagles, which has provided free introductory flights to more than 1.6 million young people since 1992.

Ford goes extreme with Octane Academy, builds on action sports outreach

The Ford Octane Academy, a new program aimed at a younger, more diverse generation of action sports enthusiasts, will unite ultimate fans with their favorite Ford action sports drivers – Ken Block, Brian Deegan, Tanner Foust and Vaughn Gittin Jr. – for the unique opportunity to get behind the wheel and experience the extreme excitement of performance driving. Ford has significantly increased its presence in action motorsports in the last three years, and through programs such as X Games and Octane Academy it is igniting the passion of a younger demographic particularly interested in nontraditional motorsports. Millennials are involved in extreme sports more than any other athletic activity.

Teens 'Belt It Out' in Ford contest, win $$$

Five lucky teens have won a national Ford song contest that involved 520,000 public votes and final judging from Shawn Wilson, president of Usher's New Look Foundation. Distracted driving was the theme for Ford's Driving Skills for Life "Belt It Out" contest. Each winner received a $5,000 U.S. savings bond and a trip to Usher's New Look Foundation World Leadership Conference. Earlier this year Ford Motor Company Fund invested another $1 million to expand Ford's fight against the No. 1 killer of American teens – vehicle crashes. The Fund is bringing its free driving skills clinic to high schools in 15 states this year.
