Manufacturers: NLRB Actions Will Hinder Job Creation
07/21/11 - “Manufacturers remain very concerned about the agenda the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) is pursuing. Recent actions from the NLRB such as the ‘quick snap elections’ rule, its consideration of the Specialty Healthcare case and its complaint against Boeing are having a chilling effect on our nation’s job creators. Manufacturers are increasingly concerned about the actions of the board and believe they will have a direct impact on their hiring and capital investment in the future.We recently polled 8,700 of our members on this issue and had more than 1,000 responses. Sixty-nine percent of those responding said that the NLRB’s actions will negatively affect their ability to create jobs. This startling statistic demonstrates the concern among manufacturers.
We are encouraged by the legislation offered by Chairman Kline (R-MN) and are pleased to see the Education and Workforce Committee move quickly to send this measure to the floor. It will help curb these harmful actions by the NLRB and help restore certainty for manufacturers. We look forward to working with Congress on these very important issues.”
