Manufacturers: House Vote on Debt Plan a Step Forward

-  National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) President and CEO Jay Timmons released this statement following the House of Representatives’ vote on Speaker Boehner’s debt plan, the Budget Control Act of 2011:

“Manufacturers want leadership from Congress and the White House on the debt ceiling, and today’s vote in the House of Representatives is a step in the right direction. Default is not an option manufacturers can accept. The economy is sputtering, and the uncertainty only creates more harm.

We remain steadfast in our call for leadership in Washington, and we are hopeful today’s action will lead to a deal that will ensure our country’s fiscal and economic well-being.”
