Location, location, location: Ford finds the best spot for electric vehicle charge ports

When owners of the Ford Focus Electric or C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid charge up their cars, they'll find a natural, instinctive fit. That's not by chance – it's by design, and it's because Ford engineers did their homework, ensuring customers had the perfect place to "fuel" up. While determining that the left front fender was the best location for the charge port may seem inconsequential, electric vehicle owners are likely to plug in or disconnect their cars four times a day, or nearly 1,500 times a year. The front and rear of the vehicle were determined as unsuitable locations because they are areas with high risk of damage in small crashes.

Ford Focus earns Top Safety Pick from IIHS and highest safety rating from Euro NCAP

The 2012 Focus has joined the growing list of Ford Motor Company vehicles to be named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. With the new Focus on the list, 12 Ford Motor Company vehicles have now earned Top Safety Pick status. To earn a Top Safety Pick, a vehicle must receive a rating of "good" in offset frontal-, side- and rear-impact tests and the roof strength evaluation, as well as offer electronic stability control.

Ford reminds owners that tire pressure gauges are essential for summer travel

With vacation season upon us, Ford is reminding travelers to pack tire pressure gauges along with the picnic basket and sunscreen. That's because correct tire pressure plays a huge role in achieving optimal fuel economy. Keeping tires at the recommended pressure can reduce the average amount of fuel used by 3 to 4 percent. Ford recommends customers check tire inflation pressures with an accurate digital tire pressure gauge.

Ford steps up aid for tornado relief

The Ford Motor Company Fund is donating another $50,000 to assist with hunger relief efforts in communities hit by tornadoes, bringing the total donations to Feeding America in the past month to $100,000. Additionally, employees at Kansas City Assembly Plant including employees with UAW Local 249 and local Ford offices are assisting with relief efforts in Joplin, Mo. An employee gate collection is expected to raise several thousand dollars in further contributions. The Fund also donated $50,000 to this organization in May for disaster relief in southern states hit by tornadoes and floods.
