President Obama visits a manufacturer in Iowa, and Senate leaders huddle with the President on the debt ceiling.

Today, President Obama meets with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and later with Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY). On Tuesday, the President visits another manufacturer—the Alcoa Davenport Works in Iowa. On Thursday, the President says goodbye to Defense Secretary Robert Gates in remarks at the Pentagon.

The Senate gavels in tomorrow afternoon and is scheduled to hold a procedural vote on the nomination of James Cole to serve as deputy attorney general.  The Senate will likely pass a short-term Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization—the previous short-term extension expires at the end of this week. Also on the radar: patent reform. Now that the House and Senate have passed a bill, it’s time to reconcile the differences between the two versions and produce a final bill.
