EPA Awards Over $270,000 to the City of Maumelle, Arkansas (AR)
(DALLAS – May 6, 2011) The U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the City of Maumelle,
Arkansas are continuing their efforts to create a comprehensive
plan to manage wetland resources in the White Oak Bayou watershed.
EPA recently awarded $277,955 to Maumelle to ensure ecological
integrity of the wetlands while allowing sustainability and urban
growth.
EPA continues to work with state, federal and
local agencies to monitor aquatic systems. The Clean Water Act and
Healthy Watersheds Initiative focuses on proactive ecosystem
conservation and protection. The data used the initiative to
characterize waters, identify emerging problems and help direct
solutions where they are most needed.
