GE Healthcare Names Two New Executives
GE Aviation’s Tom Gentile joins Healthcare as President & CEO of Healthcare Systems
Mike Swinford named President & CEO of new Global Services business
Chalfont St. Giles, UK – May 11, 2011 -- GE Healthcare today announced two new members of its leadership team in a move designed to drive differentiated product and service offerings that meet its global customers’ diverse needs.
Tom Gentile, currently vice president of GE Aviation’s Services division, has been named president and CEO of GE Healthcare’s Healthcare Systems division, a $12 billion business that develops some of the best-known medical technologies including: computed tomography, magnetic resonance, ultrasound, molecular imaging, patient care solutions, x-ray, interventional, life support systems and home health. Gentile succeeds Omar Ishrak, who is leaving GE to lead Medtronic, Inc.
Gentile is a 13-year GE veteran and recently spent three years leading a team that transformed GE’s Aviation services business into a global $7 billion platform. Before Aviation, he held a series of leadership roles in GE Capital’s businesses in the US, France and Australia, overseeing key acquisitions, consumer product launches and driving profitable growth. Before GE, Gentile held leadership and strategy roles with McKinsey & Company, American broadcaster CBS, and General Motors. Gentile earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and his MBA from Harvard University, and studied international relations at the London School of Economics.

Mike Swinford, currently the Services leader for GE Healthcare’s North American division, has been named president and CEO of Global Services, a new business that will be responsible for driving GE Healthcare’s service strategy globally, creating new service growth platforms across product lines and expanding the capabilities of each region’s service operations.
Dineen added, “Mike has done a tremendous job leading the services organization for us in North America. As we’ve expanded our commercial activities around the world we believe it makes good, profitable business sense to drive service growth across our global product lines, investing in world-class regional service delivery. Mike has the credentials and business acumen to lead this valuable business, and to develop the strategy and infrastructure that will help us partner more closely with our customers.”
Since 2005, Swinford has led GE Healthcare’s North American Services business which included P&L operations, installation, applications, asset management, biomedical and multi-vendor imaging services. Prior to this role he held a series of services, quality and supply chain leadership roles in GE Healthcare. He joined GE in 1992 through the Manufacturing Management Program and holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla.
