Manufacturers: House Votes for Job Creation by Expediting Permitting Process for Energy Exploration and Production in the Gulf of Mexico

-  National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Senior Vice President for Policy and Government Relations Aric Newhouse issued the following statement today after the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1229, the Putting the Gulf of Mexico Back to Work Act, requiring the federal government to respond to a permit application with the proper environmental safeguards within 30 days of receipt:

“Manufacturers and their employees have suffered enough as the Administration continues to block development of our nation’s domestic energy supplies. Today’s bipartisan vote to require the Administration to approve permits for offshore exploration and development after the appropriate reviews is critical in putting Americans back to work.

Manufacturers urge the Senate to swiftly follow suit on this important step toward creating jobs.”
