Manufacturers Welcome News of Nomination of Commerce Secretary

-  National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) President and CEO Jay Timmons issued the following statement today on President Obama’s nomination of John Bryson to become the new Secretary of the Department of Commerce:

“Manufacturers congratulate John Bryson on his nomination to be the next Commerce Secretary. We welcome today’s announcement as we look forward to maintaining a strong relationship with the U.S. Commerce Department on vital issues such as global competitiveness, regulatory overreach and trade. Mr. Bryson has a strong business background and serves on the board of many manufacturing companies, which gives him the advantage of having exposure to the difficult issues manufacturers face in today’s global marketplace.

Manufacturers worked closely with Secretary Locke and we are pleased that the President has nominated a strong advocate of international trade as it leads to economic stability and job growth. Manufacturers also welcome the opportunity to work with Mr. Bryson to achieve our shared goal of doubling exports by 2014.”
