BioCentury Publications, Inc., the leading global provider of biotechnology news and analysis, and W…USA-TV, the Washington, D.C., CBS affiliate and flagship television station of Gannett Broadcasting, have partnered to present BioCentury This Week. This weekly public affairs program will examine how the intersection of biotechnology with industry, public policy, regulation and finance will transform healthcare, food, energy and the environment.

BioCentury This Week joins the CBS "Sunday Power Block" lineup that includes CBS Sunday Morning, Face the Nation, This Week in Defense News, Platt's Energy Week, and The McLaughlin Group.

The first public affairs program of its kind to be broadcast on a major U.S. television station, BioCentury This Week premieres September 19, from 8:30-9:00 A.M. EDT, on WUSA Channel 9 in the Washington, D.C., market and on Fox affiliate WFXT Channel 25 in the Boston, Mass., market.

For its global audience, the weekly programs will be continuously streamed from the BioCentury This Week website, biocenturytv.com, starting Sunday, September 19, at 9:00 a.m.

BioCentury This Week will be anchored by Washington Editor Steve Usdin and Publisher Eric Pierce, both 18-year veterans of BioCentury. They will be supported by BioCentury's network of senior scientific and business editors, recognized for their deep knowledge and understanding of biotechnology: its science, its history and its players.

The development of BioCentury This Week will be overseen by BioCentury's founders, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief Karen Bernstein, Ph.D., and President & CEO David Flores, both globally recognized for their efforts to provide an objective, accurate and authoritative information platform for key decision makers in bioindustry.

"BioCentury This Week is a unique content platform, presenting highly topical information from biotechnology policy makers, corporate decision makers and key industry opinion leaders," said Allan Horlick, President and General Manager of W…USA-TV. "It will offer an unprecedented environment for reaching biotechnology stakeholders."

According to David Flores, President & CEO of BioCentury, "There is a clear unmet need for the public and policy makers to understand how politics, regulatory decisions, investor attitudes, bioethics and global competition will determine whether bioscience fulfills its social promise. BioCentury and W…USA will fill this need."

BioCentury This Week will continue BioCentury's independent approach to spotlight the views of key scientific opinion leaders, corporate decision makers, lawmakers and policy architects, venture capitalists and other investment professionals, and the patient and consumer groups who stand to benefit most from biotechnology.

The Charter Sponsors of BioCentury This Week include Biogen Idec Inc., a global leader in the discovery, development, manufacturing and marketing of innovative therapies, creating new standards of care in oncology, neurology and immunology; the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), an industry trade association representing more than 1,200 biotechnology companies, academic institutions and related organizations in the U.S. and 30 countries; and Rodman & Renshaw, a full-service investment bank providing corporate finance, strategic advisory and related services to public and private companies.
