AMFELTEC Corporation (www.amfeltec.com (http://www.amfeltec.com) ), a leading provider of equipment dedicated to hardware/software development and electronic design manufacturing, has launched a new device called System Logger (SysLogger). This is a batteryless data logger for supporting appliance design market and embedded system development.

During development and deployment of the embedded system, many types of system crashes can't be captured using standard methods such as storing log information on a local hard drive or on a secondary computer. Operating system crashes can prevent log files from being properly written, and power outages can cause physical damage to the disk. Using a secondary computer for capturing log information makes it hard to use, if the system is located in the field or the system crashes happen rarely.

System Logger is a unique device, designed for solving this type of problem. When deployed in the computer system, System Logger provides around the clock system logging. Upon a system crash, power outage or a user specified trigger event, system information is stored in its non-volatile memory and can be accessed or restored later at any time on any computer for analysis. It implements the new Smart Batteryless Backup Technology that allows continuous storing of log information even when the electrical characteristics of the System Logger are fluctuating due to humidity and temperature influences. This patent pending technology makes the System Logger lifetime practically unlimited.

"This System Logger is essentially "Flight Data Recorder" for a computer system located in the office or in the field" says Michael Feldman, AMFELTEC Corporation President and CTO. "By using AMFELTEC Batteryless System Logger the fault diagnostic process becomes significantly faster and more cost effective and as a result, it will significantly increase reliability of the embedded systems".

Batteryless System Logger has the following characteristics: -- System interface is RS-232 (standard DB9 connector) -- Programmable baud rates 9600/19200/57600/115200 bps -- Memory buffer 128 Kbytes -- Powered from the system interface ( no batteries or power cables) -- Lifetime more than ten years -- Extremely compact design: 1.302" x 0.768" x 2.387"

The System Logger is now in full production. For additional information please visit the company website at www.amfeltec.com (http://www.amfeltec.com) .
