Wall St. Protesters Gather at GE CEO's Home

A group of 100 gathered outside Jeffrey Immelt's home, saying his company provides a perfect example of corporate greed.

NEW CANAAN, Conn. (AP) -- A group of protesters have visited General Electric chief executive Jeffrey Immelt's Connecticut home, saying his company provides a perfect example of corporate greed.

Jon Green, director of Connecticut Working Families, said about 100 people, including protesters from the Occupy Wall Street movement, gathered Saturday outside Immelt's gated home in New Canaan.

Green said no one answered when they tried to deliver Immelt a letter, so people instead shared stories about their struggles.

Green said Immelt needs to understand people are suffering as GE makes billions in profits while not paying corporate taxes and shipping jobs overseas.

But GE spokesman Andrew Williams said the company paid over $1 billion in taxes last year.

He added the company just announced 10,000 new U.S. manufacturing jobs and its 16th new factory in the U.S. since 2009.
