MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alliant Techsystems (NYSE: ATK) announced today that Roxanne J. Decyk and Ambassador April H. Foley were elected as independent directors to the company's Board of Directors at the company's annual meeting of stockholders held earlier today.  

Ms. Decyk is currently based in Washington, D.C., where she serves as the Executive Vice President, Global Government Affairs for Royal Dutch Shell plc., responsible for the company's international government relations and country coordination.  She previously served as Royal Dutch Shell's Corporate Affairs Director, working out of The Hague, and as the company's Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Human Resources.  Prior to her current company, she held executive-level positions with Amoco Corporation (now BP), and Navistar International, formerly known as the International Harvester Company.  Ms. Decyk currently serves on the Board of Directors for Snap-on Incorporated, and Business for Social Responsibility.  She previously served on the Boards of Material Sciences Corporation, and Harris Trust and Savings Bank.  She completed her undergraduate degree in English Literature/Advertising from the University of Illinois, and her law degree from the Marquette University Law School.

Ambassador Foley served as the United States Ambassador to Hungary from 2006 – 2009, working to improve U.S.-Hungarian relations and advancing U.S. foreign policy efforts in the region.  She played an instrumental role in the decision to base a NATO C-17 squadron in Hungary in support of coalition operations for the conflict in Afghanistan.  Prior to serving as the U.S. Ambassador to Hungary, she served as First Vice President and Vice Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, where she played a key role in creating the Trade Bank of Iraq.  She was also one of six Americans to serve on the American-Iraqi Joint Economic Council, charged with strengthening Iraq's economy.  Before entering government service, Ambassador Foley held a number of executive level positions with PepsiCo, Wilson Sporting Goods, Reader's Digest, and Pfizer.  Ambassador Foley currently serves on the Board of Directors of Xerium Technologies, Inc, and the Board of Trustees of Smith College.  She holds a B.A. degree in Psychology from Smith College, and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
