SOUNDBITES: JULY 2010 SALES

Ford’s newest vehicles helped the company continue to grow as Ford, Lincoln and Mercury dealers delivered 166,092 new vehicles in July – a 5 percent increase versus a year ago. Cut #1: The thing that we are seeing now in July is last year was the beginning of the clunkers program and sales really took off in the last week. Ford last July was the only major manufacturer to post an increase, so to post another increase off of that strong performance last July, we're feeling pretty good about that." :21 sec.

Year-to-date sales totaled 1.12 million, up 24 percent, with growth across Ford’s full family of cars (up 21 percent), utilities (up 19 percent) and trucks (up 32 percent). Pipas says new product and strong drive trains under the hood is what's pushing fresh products out of the showroom.

Cut #2: "Ford has the freshest product in the business, our newest products, the Fiesta, and the Super Duty and the Mustang all did well. Beneath the hood of those products, are powertrains that deliver the performance that customers want and the fuel economy that they need." :15 sec.

According to Pipas, performance and fuel economy has been a common theme in this months sales report.

Cut #3: "and really it's been a contributor to our results over the past couple of years." :04 sec.

Another important product for Ford is the 2011 F-Series Super Duty..

Cut #4: "It accounts for 35-40 percent of our total F-Series sales, in the last three-months, Super Duty sales have averaged 18-thousand per month, that's a hugh contribution, not only to our sales report, but also to our bottom line." :13 sec.

Announced today, in an industry first, Ford Motor Company will make sure all 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty Pickup customers, past and future, receive the added power produced by the all-new 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbocharged diesel.

Cut #5: "We're going to begin production of the upgraded powertrain this week, we're going to reflash, make those powertrain upgrades available to all units in stock and customers that purchased 2-thousand-eleven Superduty's already will have their products outfitted with this powertrain improvement, free of charge." :19 sec.

Ford gained retail market share for the 21st time in the last 22 months. Fleet sales were up 2 percent, reflecting higher sales of Ford's hard-working trucks to commercial customers.
