SAIC Awarded $13 Million Task Order by the Department of Homeland Security, National Communications System

MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) today announced it has been awarded a task order under a contract with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), National Communications System (NCS) to provide continued system engineering and program management expertise to help transition legacy communications systems to next generation network technology. The task order has a one-year base period of performance, a single one-year option, and a total estimated value of more than $13 million if the option is exercised. Work will be performed in the Washington, D.C. area. The task order was awarded under the Scientific, Engineering, and Technical Assistance (SETA) contract supporting NCS National Security/Emergency Preparedness (NS/EP).

The NCS is charged with enabling NS/EP communications using the national telecommunications system. It also assists in the exercise of the telecommunications functions and responsibilities. Under the task order, SAIC will provide engineering and operations services to DHS in support of NS/EP communications programs. Work will be performed in areas including system architecture, networking, emergency  communications, operations, restoration protocols, and new technical initiatives.
